Designer dressmaker of original hand sewn dresses: wedding dresses, evening wear and day wear. Anne creates the designs, makes the patterns from paper and hand sews the clothes. She specialises in working with silk, lace and natural fibers as well as designing unique embroidery and bead-work to embellish the dresses and hand made accessories that she also creates. Her accessory designs are for small silk wedding and evening bags (pochettes) silk padded and/or embellished headbands, scrunchies, hair and shoe bows and hand painted silk scarves.

Consultations and fittings are by appointment only, with a spacious private changing area and free parking.

You will find some ready made ladies dresses and separates, accessories and scarves to buy from her website.

Anne is also experienced at designing and making clothes from a distance without the need for fittings. Preliminaries, sketches and photos by e-mail, swatches in the post. She can send a toile for you to try at home, or work straight on the garment once the design is approved, sending you photos of progress by e-mail, then send the finished product to you by tracked courier. If there fitting alterations are needed, these can be made by return of post.

Experience

Anne trained in several commercial art and fashion studios when everything was done by hand. She has an Open Degree from Open University, 6 subjects including languages and heritage. She also studied continuing professional development in DTP, digital drawing and photo editing.

She started making designs and patterns for clothes when she was a teenager and set up her sole trader practice as a dress designer of hand sewn clothes and as a visual artist in the 1980s because people saw the clothes she designed and asked her to create outfits for them. She works from a home base and has exhibited her work at craft fairs, fashion shows, and art shows, including 2 solo art exhibitions.
