Description
The Devoré process involves burning out areas of the viscose pile to produce a lace like effect.
The velvet is 82% viscose pile on a ‘net’ or backing of silk at 18%. (With devoré fabrics the ratio of silk to viscose will vary depending on the design.) this process is done here at Beckford Silk.
Beckford Silk velvet can be hand washed in warm to hot water using a small amount of liquid soap. Rinse in cold water then squeeze out excess water gently. HOWEVER, you will need to tumble dry it in order to raise the pile and restore the softness of the fabric.
We do recommend all fabric be washed separately before use, this will allow any excess dye to be removed and shrinkage to occur before cutting.
Store silk in a dry/dark wardrobe. Do not store silk fabric/clothing in plastic.
I loved that they sent a large sample that I was able to do lots of testing on. The instructions on washing were also very helpful.
