Description
This pure silk Chinese dupion has been woven on power looms and is therefore less ‘slubby’ than hand loom dupion. It also drapes better than the traditional crisp dupion. A beautiful cloth to work with, it is often used for bridal wear and particularly for bridesmaids dresses. Please note that because of the natural slubs in the weave, these can appear as ‘marks’ in the cloth when it is dyed. This is the nature of this fabric.
We recommend that you hand wash your fabric, scarf or finished garment in tepid water and a mild detergent. Once rinsed, gently squeeze out the excess water (do not wring when wet) and lay flat between towels until you are ready to iron. Iron damp on the reverse with a fairly hot iron.
We do recommend all fabric be washed separately before use, this will allow any excess dye to be removed and shrinkage to occur before cutting.
Store silk in a dry/dark wardrobe. Do not store silk fabric/clothing in plastic.
Excellent
Crisp but not too heavy. I ordered samples in the pale cream in the dupion and crepe dechine. The colour was deeper in the crepe dechine, which I didn’t like as much. When I called up about this, it was explained that the duller silks take in the dyes more deeply than the shinier silks. It might be helpful to note this on the website. However, calling helped clarify and determined the fabric I chose in the end.
Beautiful quality
Should have ordered a swatch as not suitable weight nor right colour for what I wanted to use it for. Quality is lovely but will have to make a top for me with it instead. But an expensive mistake – order a swatch is the moral of this story.
