Our stock velvet comes to us as natural white and we dye it here at Beckford. This medium pile Velvet has a pure silk net with a viscose pile. This means we have to use multiple dye types in order to get the desired colours.
Once we have finished the dying process we add a conditioner to the fabric, and then dry in a tumble dryer.
Beckford Silk velvet can be hand washed in warm to hot water using a small amount of liquid soap. Rinse in cold water then squeeze out excess water gently. HOWEVER, you will need to tumble dry it in order to raise the pile and restore the softness of the fabric.
We do recommend all fabric be washed separately before use, this will allow any excess dye to be removed and shrinkage to occur before cutting.
Store silk in a dry/dark wardrobe. Do not store silk fabric/clothing in plastic.
