Tate – Carnation Lily, Lily Rose silk scarf

Description

Delicate and sophisticated silk scarf with an orange trim that has a design from John Singer Sargent’s 1885 painting ‘Carnation Lily, Lily Rose’.

Sargent wanted to capture the exact level of light at dusk in this painting, so he painted the picture out of doors in the Impressionist manner which explains the subtle and tantalising use of colour.

This scarf has been created to accompany the collection at Tate Britain and is exclusive to the Tate.
